- Matti Vesikansa
My mentor during specialization at the Museum of Finnish Architecture in
Helsinki (1975/76) was Matti Vesikansa, practicing architect working on
different projects, mostly in architecture with social responsibility.
I helped him once, on a competition project for small settlement of social
housing. I don't have any drawing of that project, but here are some attractive
Matti's drawings for the Fun Children Park. He had very specific and unique
style, and many of his architectural cartoons were published in Arhittekti
(Finnish magazine). Matti (1945-1987) was dear friend. Silvija and me saw
for the last time him in January 1987, on the nice party, Matti and Sari
with their friends gave to us. Frozen lakes and snow around, tasteful Finnish
food and drinks, fire in fireplace, and Saara, their daughter playing Sibelius
on piano together with the same orchestra playing on gramophone player.
When I worked Bundek competition, Matti let me to add his drawings for
children park, and Branka Kaminski redrew them - those drawings are presented
here. |
