Adriatic 3
2006.
Opatija has been resort town since it was founded in 1884, both for summer
and winter tourism, with numerous big and small hotels, tourist villas
and accommodation places. Hotel Adriatic is focused on the congressional
tourism. Hotel Adriatic is one of the biggest and A-3 means Adriatic
- third phase. First one was from the sixties designed by architect Andro
Čičin-Šain, second phase, enlargement from seventies was designed by
Branko Žnidarec, and further growth, third phases was planned on the
eastern side of complex. Additional A3 hotel of 5 stars contains 140
hotel units, big restaurant, main kitchen, big casino, club rooms, fancy
restaurant on the top, all auxiliary spaces, swimming pools, 300 cars
garage - about 20.000 sq m / 16.800 sq m site. The most important thing
was that hotel should be designed in the way that everyone hotel room,
as well as restaurants, have to have sea view - magnificent vista to
blue sea and to mighty rock of island Krk, over the sea. Garage are on
the back side in the terrain, lowered completely under the street level,
covered with green roof (grass, bushes, small tree, water motives), so
that this pleasant park area with A-3 enterprise is pure benefit for
town and public urban space. Investors were delighted with project.
Collaborators were Nikola Šimunić, Vjekoslav Žele and Marko Jambrović.
